About Dorothy
Hi, I'm Dorothy Williams, founder of Flower Budgets.
I'm a wife, a mother to a wonderful school-aged daughter, and a proud Yorkie mom. Like many families, we've experienced life's ups and downs, and those experiences have taught me the value of perseverance, planning, and finding strength in every season.
I grew up with humble beginnings, and for years I worked hard, did my best, and stayed busy—but I often felt like I had very little to show for all of my effort. I knew there had to be a better way to manage money, but I wasn't sure where to start.
Everything changed when I discovered budgeting.
Through cash budgeting and years of studying personal finance, I began to see money differently. For the first time, I understood that budgeting wasn't about restriction—it was about giving every dollar a purpose. I learned how to be intentional with my spending, prioritize my goals, and create a plan for my family's future.
As my passion for personal finance grew, I became a financial coach, spending several years helping individuals and families create budgets, pay off debt, build savings, and gain confidence with their money. I also had the privilege of leading financial education courses, where I guided participants through practical strategies for budgeting, eliminating debt, and building a strong financial foundation.
Those experiences reinforced my belief that financial success isn't about perfection—it's about having a plan, staying consistent, and taking small steps that lead to lasting results. They also inspired me to create Flower Budgets, where I combine practical financial education, real-life case studies, and easy-to-use tools to help everyday people gain confidence with their finances.
I chose the name Flower Budgets because flowers can survive some of the harshest weather conditions. They endure storms, heavy rain, and difficult environments, yet they continue to grow and bloom. In many ways, the very things that challenge them help them thrive.
I believe our financial journeys are much the same.
Life can bring unexpected expenses, debt, job loss, illness, and financial setbacks. There may be seasons when it feels like nothing is going right. But just like flowers, we can continue to grow through difficult circumstances and emerge stronger on the other side.
Flower Budgets was created not only to provide practical financial education but also to provide hope. I believe financial education should be practical, encouraging, and accessible to everyone. Money shouldn't feel overwhelming or intimidating. With the right plan, practical tools, and consistent habits, anyone can make meaningful progress toward their financial goals.
Through The Flower Budgets Method™, financial planning worksheets, savings challenges, eBooks, courses, Case Study Fridays™, and other educational resources, my mission is to make personal finance simple, relatable, and encouraging while equipping individuals and families with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make informed financial decisions.
Whether you're paying off debt, building savings, investing for the future, recovering from a financial setback, or simply trying to gain control of your money, I want you to know that meaningful progress is possible. You don't have to be perfect—you just have to keep taking the next step.
Thank you for being here and allowing Flower Budgets to be part of your financial journey.
